OUR VISION
Gary and Debbie have long had a vision of creating a welcoming sanctuary in a hidden part of their sugar cane farm, just 15 minutes drive from the Whitsundays.
Gary grew up on the farm and parts had been cleared in the early 1970s to run cattle and grow sugar cane. He never felt comfortable with destroying the rainforest to run cattle and has allowed the rainforest to regenerate on the hills, with just a small area in which a few head of cattle are still run.
Gary and Debbie understood their proximity to Airlie Beach offered the chance to build a retreat where the choice is to enjoy what the Whitsundays has to offer, while escaping from the world in total privacy. They acted on their vision, and built a comfortable and secluded hideaway that they occasionally enjoy themselves and share with discerning guests.
Their haven, which they named Moondance Escape, has a stand-alone solar power system and is shaded by native trees, indigenous to the area, such as Fig Trees, Flame Trees, Damson and Cedars, for additional privacy.
Gary and Debbie’s aim is to give guests a memorable stay in a private location, and for people to enjoy the space as much as they do.
